JAMMU, June 29: The residents of Mandlik Nagar, Lower Paloura, have expressed their serious concern over poor condition of road from Toph bridge to BSF family quarters and a choked nallah behind Best Price Mall.
The issue was discussed threadbare in a meeting of the residents of the Mandlik Nagar held here today under the presidentship of Captain (retd) RS Manhas, president, Mandlik Nagar Welfare Association.
The residents said that the road from Toph bridge to BSF family quarters, which is about 270 metre in length is completely damaged and in worse condition for last 2 years due to which they are suffering badly as it is even difficult to walk on this road. They alleged that despite approaching authorities of PWD, ERA as well as UEED, no action has been taken to repair the road. They appealed the concerned authorities for immediate blacktopping of the road.
They further said that the nallah behind the Best Price Mall is totally blocked for past over one year due to a culvert constructed by the authorities of Mall, which is at very less height from ground level. The speakers said this blocked nallah has become a source of mosquitoes and other insects, besides foul smell, which the inhabitants have to inhale.
“We approached Jammu Municipal Commissioner and Store Manager of Best Price Mall but no action was taken. Thereafter, we with our own resources hired a JCB to clean and open the nallah but it could not be opened due to low level of culvert”, they said and appealed Governor N N Vohra to pass directions to the concerned officials to address their grievances.
