RAJOURI, June 29: One pilgrim was killed while 18 others were injured in a road accident at Chatiyari near Chingus on Rajouri-Jammu highway this afternoon.
Official sources said that mishap took place when the vehicle bearing registration No. JK02BG/ 7850 was on way to Jammu from Shahdara Sharief shrine in Thannamandi area. The vehicle was over speeding and the driver lost control over it and it over turned on the road side.
After performing pilgrimage, they were returning to Beli Charana, Jammu. All the injured were rushed to District Hospital, Rajouri where one of them was declared as brought dead. She was identified as Maroofa Bi (18), daughter of Murad Ali, resident of Beli Charana, Jammu.
The other injured were identified as Ashraf Hussain (25), son of Fareed Ahmed; Mushtaq (20), son of Mohd Rashid; Fareed, son of Khan; Zulekha (20), daughter of Kala; Kamoo wife of Fazal Din, Munir (10), son of Kala; Zulekha-II wife of Mohd Ashraf; Feroz , son of Noor Hussain; Nazia daughter of Farooq Ahmed; Shamoo wife of Farooq Ahmed; Saleem ,son of Fareed; Tara (60), wife of Feroz; Razia daughter of Noor Alahi; Sofia daughter of Arshad; Middu son of Rehamat; Seema wife of Mirza, all from Beli Charana Jammu; Shakoora wife of Yousuf and Arshad Ali, son of Mohd Yousif from Panchari in Udhampur. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
