State pensioners demand hike in medical allowance

JAMMU, June 29: The State pensioners have demanded increase in the medical allowance of the pensioners and State employees without any more delay.
In a meeting of the pensioners held here under the banner of J&K State Pensioners Association, Jammu, led by Krishan Singh (president), the speakers urged upon the Principal Secretary, Finance to enhance the medical allowance of the employees and pensions from existing paltry rate of Rs 300 per month to Rs 1000 per month on the Central pattern.
They also demanded to expedite the payment of DA arrears for the period from January to June 2009 to pre-2006 pensioners which stand paid to the employees as well as post 2006 pensioners long back. They also discussed other issues of the employees and pensioners. They said 7th Pay Commission should also be implemented in Local Bodies without any more delay.
