SRINAGAR, June 30: Joint Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Industries and Commerce, Dr Vandana Kumar today said that there is lot of scope for service sector and food processing industry in Jammu and Kashmir. She said that the reimbursement of the GST of various units registered with the DIPP will start soon.
Dr Vandana Kumar told Excelsior that the Central Government had notified new industrial development scheme for Jammu and Kashmir in which an overall subsidy is enhanced to Rs 5 crore from earlier Rs 3 crore in organized as well as unorganized sectors.
She said an awareness workshop was held on Friday about the New Industrial Development (NID) Scheme with the State Government and a meeting was also held with Principal Secretary, Industries industry captains and all other organs of the state who are working for the development of industries and they were informed about the NID Scheme.
“There is Capital Subsidy, Interest Incentive and Insurance incentives in the scheme. We have tried to increase various limits including manufacturing and servicing as well. We talked about all our efforts and also listened the problems they have been facing here,” she said.
She also informed that a budgetary support for GST scheme for the existing units had already been announced in October last year. “Various units from J&K have already registered with us and their reimbursement process will be soon started. They will definitely get benefit from this,” she said.
While praising the potential of industries here, she said: “There is a lot of potential particularly the service industry. I saw a good scope of food processing here. I think tourism related every sector has a good potential here.”
She visited two major industrial units – Himalayan Rolling Steel Private Limited and FIL Industries at Rangreth and interacted with the staff there. She was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary Industries, Director Industries and MD SIDCO and other senior officers.
Earlier during the awareness workshop, she informed that the Ministry had recently launched the web portal for Industrial Development Scheme for the Himalayan States which is available on www.dipp.nic.in.
“All eligible units would have to register under the scheme through this portal. Then units will become eligible to receive all government benefits. Applicant has to apply online along with DPR. The final grant of registration and approval will be decided by the Empowered Committee for the eligibility of the Industrial unit on the basis of availability of Budget to decide the eligibility for registration under the scheme,” she explained.
It was also said that units which have commenced production on or after June 15, 2017, will be allowed to register with DIPP portal up to September 30, 2018. Preferences will be given to MSME units.
