Srinagar, June 30: A 29-year-old woman was found hanging in her room at her in-law’s house at Mehjoor Nagar area here last night.
The woman, according to a relative who identified himself as her uncle, was married for past six years and was mother to a four-year-old son.
However, family members of the woman allege that the lady was killed by her in-laws as they often used to torture her.
Sister of the victim alleged that she was repeatedly being tortured by her in-laws for dowry, her property, jealousy and finally they killed her.
“They used to harass her everyday but she did not utter a word. She was treated like a maid at her own house and finally they killed her. There are marks all over the body and her kidneys have been damaged as well,” she alleged
Meanwhile , Station House Officer (SHO) Sadder Police Station, Raees Ahmad said the victim, a Sikh woman, was found hanging from a fan on Thursday. “We are investigating the death under section 144 CrPc,” he said.
