RAJOURI, June 30: A team from Vigilance organization Jammu raided Deputy Commissioner’s office at Rajouri and sealed the Judicial Clerk’s room where gun licenses record of the whole district is kept.
Official sources told the Excelsior that a special team of Vigilance Organization led by an officer of the rank of SSP raided the office of DC Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary this evening and sealed the room of the Judicial Clerk, where gun licenses record is maintained and kept. The Vigilance organization under case FIR No. 11/ 2018 is conducting investigation into issuance of the arms license by the respective DCs.
On Friday, the team had raided the office of DC Udhampur and today, record of the DC office Rajouri kept in Judicial Room has been sealed. The Vigilance had information that during 2012-2017, over 80-85 % of the gun licenses have been issued to the outsiders by the concerned district officers. Kupwara, Udhampur and Rajouri districts were on the radar of the Vigilance Organizations.
The sources said that for the consideration of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 the licenses have been issued to the defence personnel, men from paramilitary forces and many outsiders from these districts during past several years through local agents. The role of NIC offices of the districts is also on the radar. The sources said that in coming days many officers will be exposed for their involvement in the arms license racket operating in J&K.
