SRINAGAR, July 2: A local court here today sentenced a man from Srinagar to two years in jail for cheating a foreigner whom he had promised to marry.
Sub Judge Forest Magistrate M R Chak, however, acquitted mother and sister of the man, Mohsin Shah, a resident of Brane Nishat, Srinagar. “Moshin Shah is convicted and sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of two years and rest of the accused Rubeena and Mahoor are acquitted of the charges under Section 420 and 109 RPC for want of evidence, the court said.”
Trial against Mohsin and others culminated on a charge sheet filed by Police against them on a written complaint lodged by Sarawit Patara Chokchai of Thailand, presently staying in Germany. She was staying at Shining Star Guest House, Dalgate Srinagar during her visit to Valley.
