2 jawans hurt in mine blast

MENDHAR, Dec 21: Two Army soldiers were seriously injured in separate incidents of mine explosions near Line of Control (LoC) in Sagra and Balakote areas of Mendhar  in district Poonch today.
Reports said a soldier was critically wounded in a land mine explosion near the Line of Control (LOC) in Sagra area of Krishna Ghati sector this evening. The mishap took place at around 4.30 pm when an Army patrol was moving along the fencing near Roshni Post in Sagra area of tehsil Mendhar today.
While the left leg of one of the jawans was badly blown up as he over stepped a land mine inadvertently, the other three soldiers had narrow escape in the incident. They rushed the soldier to nearby unit hospital from where he was then airlifted in a chopper to Command hospital, Udhampur. The victim was identified as Raja Ram of Ist Maratha Light Infantry.
In yet another incident of  mine explosion in Tarkundi area near the LoC in Balakote sub-sector at around 11.30 am, L/Nk Bia Ram of 20 Rajput was seriously injured. He was also on petrol when the mishap occurred. The injured soldier has been admitted to Army Hospital, Rajouri.
