SRINAGAR, July 6: Syeda Hafeeza Begum, wife of prominent industrialist and businessman Syed Mohammad Iqbal Bukhari and mother of PDP senior leader and former Finance Minister, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, passed away at her home in Sheikhbagh, here today.
After a brief spell of illness, the deceased left for heavenly abode this morning. She will be laid to rest at family’s ancestral graveyard at Ladoora in Rafiabad in Baramulla district. According to family sources the Chahrum of the deceased will be observed on July 9 at Ladoora.
Known for her piety and philanthropic nature, the deceased was an embodiment of values and had dedicated her life to caring for the destitute and people in distress.
Governor NN Vohra has expressed grief over the demise of mother of Altaf Bukhari. In a message, Governor has prayed for the departed soul resting in eternal peace.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has also condoled demise of mother of Altaf Bukhari. While conveying heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family as well as Mohammad Iqbal Bukhari and Altaf Bukhari, party president, Mehbooba Mufti and party vice president, Mohammad Sartaj Madni, termed the late soul a pious and noble lady with a philanthropic nature. The two leaders also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.
National Conference (NC) president, Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president, Omar Abdullah, also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of mother of Syed Altaf Bukhari. Expressing solidarity with the Bukhari family, Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah have prayed for peace to the departed soul.
