JAMMU : After being suspended for a day, the Amarnath yatra resumed from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp here and a batch of 6,162 pilgrims left for the cave shrine in South of Himalayas in Kashmir.
“As many as 6,162 pilgrims on Monday morning left the base camp in a fleet of 234 vehicles,” an official said.
He said that the pilgrims left the base camp amid tight security arrangements.
The yatra from here remained suspended due to restrictions imposed in Kashmir in view of second death anniversary of Hizbul Mujaheedin militant Burhan Wani killed on July 8 in 2016 by the security forces.
