DC Kargil holds public durbar at Zanskar

KARGIL, July 9: In order to take first hand appraisal of the problems and demands of the people of Zanskar area, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal convened a public grievances redressal camp at Dak Bungalow Padum here today.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar Rakesh Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Kargil, Chief Education Officer Kargil, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Kargil, Executive Engineers besides other district and Sub Divisional officers.
Various people’s delegations present in the camp apprised the Deputy Commissioner about issues and problems being faced by them which mainly included the augmentation of power and water supply, macadamization of roads, repair of irrigation khuls, measures for prevention of damages to cattle by stray dogs and other related demands.
The DC took sector wise brief from the officers on the issues related to Anganwadi centres, schools, roads, health institutions, livestock health care, ration supply and instructed the officers to take necessary measures for early grievance redressal.
Addressing the people on the occasion, the DC said that District Administration is fully committed to mitigate the problems being faced by the public especially those living in far flung areas of the district, and the camp has been organised with the view to helping them out so that their problems are mitigated within shortest possible time. He underlined the need to establish a mechanism of efficient coordination between the administration and the people so as to ensure effective implementation of various welfare and development programmes.
Regarding the issue of poor mobile services in the area, the DC said that the matter will be taken with the BSNL authorities on priority basis besides efforts will be made to make the new towers functional in different villages including Shilingskit and Manda.
The DC also visited Sub District Hospital Padum and took stock of healthcare facilities available to the patients. He stressed upon the doctors and the paramedical staff to work with added zeal and dedication so that people get better treatment and healthcare facilities.
Meanwhile, the DC also visited Photang Gonpa and reviewed the arrangements being made in connection with the ensuing visit of Dalai Lama to Zanskar on July 20.
