Sir,
It is in reference to article “Reservation in promotions” DE on 22-06-18.
Those who oppose reservation/reservation in promnotion must realise that existing system provides reservation to the first three varans of the caste system who are enjoying 77.5 percent reservation since the independence of the country and after 1992’s Apex Court Judgment on Mandal report, it is 50.5 percent. So one can understand that people with 15 percent population are still getting 50.5 percent reservation; and in J&K State it is 80 percent to 82 percent.
Those opposing the reservation must oppose the reservation of the general categories who in J&K State enjoy 80 percent reservation. They must have opposed the reservation to RBA (20 percent) ALC 3 percent. They did not utter even a single word against the two bills passed by the JK Assembly in March 2018 at Jammu which give 3 percent reservation to Paharis and 6 percent to un-reserved categories (upper caste Gen. Categories).

Sir,
Refer to news item regarding protests by Joint Action Committee and Aarakshan Virodhi Manch DE Jun 21. Basically, the idea behind reservation is only to help those who ordinarily or under compassionate circumstances are unable to seek employment. It also ensures livelihood for those who are incapacitated and disabled to earn. The idea indeed is golden and fulfils obligations of the Government and the society on the whole. To this extent, it is hundred percent jusitified, but extension of reservation in promotion doesn’t meet the parameters of justice and morality. How unsound it appears, when intelligence and seniority are sacrificed. The poor among all categories irrespective of caste should be given only one time reservation.
