Another theft in 24 hrs, Rs 2.5 lakh stolen from car

JAMMU, Dec 22: Close on the heels of theft of cash from the car in Gandhi Nagar area, thieves again decamped with a briefcase containing Rs 2.5 lakh cash and cheque  book from a car in Shalamar area falling under the jurisdiction of City Police Station.
Police spokesman said that, Yogesh Kohli, son of Surinder Kumar Kohli, resident of Bohri, Talab Tillo, was driving his Swift car bearing registration number JK02AM-0154. A youth asked him that his vehicle is having a leakage from the engine side, he added.
The owner stopped the vehicle near Mahajan Hall in Shalamar and when he along with others were looking for the fault, some thieves decamped with a briefcase kept in the car carrying Rs 2.5 lakh cash and cheque book, he informed.
When Yogesh Kohli and others boarded the vehicle for their onward journey, they found the briefcase missing and lodged a complaint with City Police Station, he added.
A case has been registered at City Police Station and police is looking the CCTV footage to ascertain the identity of the thieves, spokesman added.
However, no arrest was made till late night.
