25 bovines rescued, two smugglers arrested

JAMMU, July 15: Police foiled two bovine smuggling bids in outskirts of Jammu by arresting two smugglers and rescuing 25 bovine animals from their possession.
According to sources, during the intervening night of July 14 and 15, a police team from police post Chowki Choura laid a special naka and intercepted two trucks bearing registration numbers JKO2AW-8573 and JKO2AL-0685.
But the driver of truck no JK02AW-8573 with intention to kill police personnel deployed on Naka accelerate the truck and break the barrier due to which one constable deployed on Naka got injured. The alerted cops chased the vehicles and managed to stop one of them. During checking, police rescued 22 bovine animals and arrested the driver namely Harbinder Singh son of Nain Singh of Simbal Camp (Jammu) while driver of truck no JK02AL-0685 managed to flee from the spot.
In this connection, Akhnoor police has registered a case under sections 307/188 RPC 3 PCA and started investigation.
Meanwhile, a bovine smuggling bid was also foiled at Karloop Morh naka in Gajansoo area where police rescued three bovines from the clutches of a man identified as Abdul Khan son of Mian, resident of Gajansoo, who was allegedly smuggling them in his load carrier bearing registration number JK02BQ-5658. The accused was arrested and his load carrier seized by the police while a case in this connection was also registered at concerned police station.
