Ranveer handled news of ‘the Big C’ with maturity: Sonali Bendre

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre who is currently battling with ‘high grade’ cancer in New York, on Thursday said she has found her source of support in her 12-year-old son Ranveer, who handled the news of ‘the Big C’ with maturity.
Taking to her social media accounts Twitter and Instagram, Sonali posted a picture of her and her son Ranveer with a heartfelt message.
In the post, Sonali revealed that her son handled the news of “the Big C” with maturity.
Sonali wrote, ”From the moment he was born 12 years, 11 months and 8 days ago, my amazing @rockbehl took ownership of my heart. From then on, his happiness and well being have been the centre of anything @goldiebehl and I ever did.”
Continuing, she mentioned the fears she and husband Goldie Behl had about breaking the news of her cancer to their little kid. ”And so When the ‘Big C’ reared its ugly head, our biggest dilemma was what and how we were going to tell him. As much as we wanted to protect him, we knew it was important to tell him the full facts. We’ve always been open and honest with him and this time it wasn’t going to be different,” she wrote.
Sharing the reaction of little Ranveer, Sonali wrote,”He took the news so maturely? and instantly became a source of strength and positivity for me. In some situations now, he even reverses roles and takes on being the parent, reminding me of things I need to do!”
Sonali also took this as an opportunity to emphasise that it’s important for parents to keep their children involved. ”I believe that it’s imperative to keep kids involved in a situation like this. They are a lot more resilient than we give them credit for. It’s important to spend time with them and include them, rather than make them wait on the side-lines, not being told yet instinctively knowing everything. In our effort to protect them from the pain and realities of life, we might end up doing the opposite.”
”I’m spending time with Ranveer right now, while he’s on summer vacation. His madness and shenanigans help me #SwitchOnTheSunshine. And today, we derive strength from each other #OneDayAtATime,” she added.
Reacting to Sonali’s recent post, Bollywood celebrities gave their blessings and love to her.
Actress Neelam said, ”We do under estimate children sometimes..but you my friend are a huge inspiration for a lot of people. Be positive.”
Divya Khosla said,”Ur a fighter Sonali n will overcome all odds by Gods Grace.”
Sonal Chauhan said,”What an inspiration you are. A real superwoman.”
Filmmaker Karan Johar said,”Sonali…you are truly a source of tremendous inspiration…your son will be your biggest strength.”
Sonam Kapoor said,”Beautiful and moving sonali.. all my love.”
Earlier this month, Sonali Bendre shocked her colleagues and fans by revealing that she’s undergoing a course of treatment for cancer in New York.
She also talked about the changes she has accepted because of the treatment and said,”The only thing I’m trying to be consistent about is maintaining a positive outlook.” (AGENCIES)
