About 220 students study in this Govt High School at Ladyot, near Baljarala, in district Rajouri. Besides these students, four teachers and nearly 250 t0 300 other villagers also have to cross this Nallah and during heavy flood these people remain stranded on the either side. Though 2-3 ugly incidents of washing away in flood have taken place so far during last three decades but despite strong public demand, the authorities did not construct a foot bridge or a full fledged bridge on this Nallah.
Many children can not go to school during heavy flood and their studies are affected. It happens mostly during the rainy season. The parents come every day to assist their children to cross Nallah and then return home ensuring their safety.
Former Sarpanch, Raghubir Singh told the Excelsior that this Nallah is big trouble for the entire population. The people are demanding foot- bridge on the Nallah but neither former MLAs of the constituency, Deputy Commissioners in the past ever bothered about the plight of the people. The former Minister AG Kohli had assured foot bridge under RDD but nothing happened during last three years. He said in case of heavy flood, the children reach home from schools via Kalal Kus after covering nearly four hours journey on foot. He urged upon the new Deputy Commissioner Rajouri and Governor’s Administration to act as responsive authorities and provide at least foot bridge at this village so that people could take sigh of relief.
