JAMMU, July 19: All J&K Forum of Junior Engineers , comprising engineers from Electrical Mechanical and Civil wings today called upon the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma in his office Chamber here and demanded action against the people involved in manhandling of a Junior Engineer of PDD in Bani area of Kathua by some miscreants.
In a joint press conference at the Canal Road office of the PDD after holding meeting with the Divisional Commissioner, the members of the Forum strongly condemned the manhandling of a JE after he was tied with a pole in Bani area by some locals. They termed this incident as politically motivated and demanded action against the people involved and the conspirators behind.
Convener Sachin Tickoo, PPEU general secretary Ajaz Kazmi, senior members Ankush Sharma and Sanjeev Bali demanded that an FIR be registered against the accused persons and action under law be taken against them. They alleged that unfortunately this happened in presence of concerned Naib Tehsildar of the area and DC concerned should also initiate action against him. They also demanded action against the SHO who allowed the accused persons to road freely without taking immediate action against them.
Wasim Mir and Abhishek Dutta warned that harassment of the PDD staff and engineers be stopped forthwith and Government should provide security at the vulnerable stations. They demanded agitation if the action is not taken against the accused persons.
The Forum also took up the issue of biometric attendance of all the employees with the Divisional Commissioner and maintained that it was not feasible for the field staff members and issue be taken up with the Advisor to the Governor. They said infact field staff of PDD remains on duty 24 hours and have to rush if any fault is developed in the system, including cables / transformers. The Forum demanded that field staff be exempted from such binding.
