NEW DELHI, July 21: Wheat prices advanced by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills against tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing belts.
However, other grains remained steady in thin trade.
Traders said besides increased offtake by flour mills, paucity of stocks on fall in arrivals from growing regions mainly pushed up wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat MP (desi) and wheat dara (for mills) rose by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,240-2,340 and Rs 1,950-1,955 per quintal, respectively.
Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,960-1,965 per 90 kg.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also settled higher at Rs 1,040-1,060, Rs 1,100-1,110 and Rs 1,160-1,170 per 50 kg, respectively.
