2 kidnapped girls recovered, accused held

POONCH, Dec 23: The police recovered two girls belonging to minority community from Sopore area of Kashmir and arrested two accused persons in this connection.
A police spokesman said that a special police team constituted by SP Poonch, Shamsheer Hussain, under the supervision of DySPs-Aijaz Malik and Javed Naz  and assisted by Sub-Inspectors, Vinod Kumar and Sikander Khan managed to recover these girls namely,  Meenakshi and Ravneet from Sopore area of  Kashmir on Saturday.
Both the accused, Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Poonch and Aijaz Ahmed, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Loran in Mandi were arrested. Cases were registered against them. The police sent the girls to local hospital at Poonch for medical examination and then handed over the families.
The police further said that as per parents, both the college girls had been kidnapped by two youth with the assistance of their associates from the town on October 13, 2012. About a week back, a deputation of the college students led by Harcharan Singh Khalsa, AISSF president also met the SP Poonch and demanded arrest of the accused and recovery the girls belonging to minority community.
The SP then framed special police team which managed to trace and recover the girls from two different locations in Kashmir. A case FIR has also been lodged with the Gandhi Nagar police in Jammu in case of  Ravneet Kour. The accused will be produced in the court of law on Monday.
