JAMMU, July 22: Gandhi Nagar and Nehru Market police jointly arrested a driver and his associate for smuggling 400 kilograms of banned polythene bags.
As per police sources, on reliable information about smuggling of banned polythene bags, a joint team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station and Nehru Market Police Post laid a naka at the back side of Hotel Asia and intercepted a bus bearing registration number JK02BF-6057.
During checking, police recovered 15 bags of banned polythene bags weighing 400 kilograms from the bus and arrested the driver and his associate for smuggling the same thereby violating the orders issued by District Magistrate (DM) Jammu.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sukhvinder Singh, son of Dhyan Singh, a resident of Sunjwan, Tehsil Vijaypur, District Samba and Angvir Singh, son of Kehar Singh, a resident of Kalyana, Tehsil RS Pura, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 159/18 under Section 188 RPC and 6/7/10 J&K Non-Biodegradable Material Holding and Disposal Act 2007 against the arrested accused and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Nehru Market Police Post SI Sandeep Charak made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
