Two narco smugglers arrested with Rs 2.5 lakh heroin

JAMMU, July 24: Moving ahead with its mission to make the society narcotics free, Gangyal Police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ busted drugs trafficking racket with the arrest of two persons along with heroin valuing Rs 2.5 lakh.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gangyal Police Station laid a naka at Kunjwani and signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BD-6148 for checking.
On seeing police cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops intercepted the motorcycle after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 25 grams heroin valuing Rs 2.5 lakh from the possession of the rider and his associate and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Karanveer Singh alias Babu, son of Kulbeer Singh of Chak Road RS Pura, at present Channi Rama and Randeep Singh, son of Hoshiyar Singh of Simbal Morh Miran Sahib Jammu.
During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the arrested persons were running a drugs trafficking cartel and had procured the consignment from Srinagar for selling among the youth in Jammu and surrounding areas. With their arrest, police saved the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 61/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, Incharge SP South Vinay Kumar and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
