UGC General Orientation Course concludes at JU

JAMMU, July 26:  The four week-long UGC-General Orientation Course (GOC) for University and College teachers, organized by the UGC Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Statistics, JU, concluded today.
Dr Pawan Kumar, Professor & Head, Department of Statistics, JU, acted as the Course Coordinator and Dr V K Shivgotra was the Co-coordinator. This was the 39th GOC organized by HRDC, JU.
The course was attended by 30 participants from various universities and colleges from different parts of the country like Kerala, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, etc.
Prof Rahul Gupta, Dean of Mathematical Sciences, Chief Librarian, JU, speaking at the function, underlined the role of UGC programmes for equipping the teachers with the latest knowledge trends.
Prof J P Singh Joorel, Director UGC HRDC, hoped that the outgoing teachers would make the best use of the new teaching-learning techniques they learnt during their stay at HRDC when they go back to their respective institutions.
Chief guest Ram Awtar, IG BSF, Jammu Frontiers, distributed the certificates among the participants of GOC.  While expressing his views, he shared his own experiences and emphasized the importance of teacher for building the good society and responsible citizen of the country. He further added that he wanted to be in teaching profession but the destiny has taken him in belt force and he is still showing interest in academic activities by associating himself with BSF Signal Training School- I, Tigri Camp, New Delhi and other training schools of BSF.
Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director, HRDC, presented a formal vote of thanks. The program was conducted by Neha Sharma, Research Scholar, Department of Statistics.
Dr Parmil Kumar and Dr Sunil Kumar were also present on the occasion.
