JAMMU, July 26: About 5100 quintal ration has been mysteriously missing from the stores of  Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) department, Rajouri while the ration dealers are up in arms against the  concerned Tehsil Supply Officer for denying them their full quota of ration for the last three months.
This serious embezzlement of ration came to notice after the newly posted  TSO Rajouri, Mohd Ashraf  in a letter (No. 289-91/TSO/FCS&CA/R/2018) dated 6-7-2018,   written to the Assistant Director Rajouri, Javed Ahmed revealed the entire matter and also requested him to hold inquiry. Ashraf had taken over the charge  from Abdul Majid, TSO recently.
The TSO narrated in his letter that the Rajouri office has received fully quota of ration from Jammu stores up to July 2018 but many dealers are approaching with the permits to receive their quota which has not been lifted by them. There are no stocks in the stores  for  issuing them  against the permits. Therefore, an inquiry be held and the ration if disbursed somewhere, may  be recovered.  It includes about 4020 quintal Atta and 1090 quintal rice.   The same TSO again gave reminder to the AD, Rajouri on July 23, vide his letter No. 579-81 for the directions in this concern.
Javed Ahmed, AD Rajouri when contacted denied having received any such letter from TSO. He claimed that as soon as he receives such letter, the matter will be inquired.
Director, FCS&CA, Jammu, Amit Sharma, however, when contacted expressed   his ignorance over the matter, but maintained that since the matter has been brought to his notice, he will hold probe and take action under law in this connection.
