JMC lifts stray cattle

JAMMU, July 26: A team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) led by its Veterinary Officer, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal here today lifted 10 stray cattle during a surprise drive and impounded them at JMC Cattle Pond, Dogra Hall.
The drive was conducted under the directions of JMC Commissioner, Arvind Kotwal and Joint Commissioner (Adm.) Rishpal Singh at Newplot, Janipur, Muthi, Karan Nagar, Rehari, Bakshi Nagar, Talab Tillo and Gandhi Nagar.
In a handout Dr. Iqbal informed that majority dairy owners after milking let loose their animals on roads and streets resulting in frequent traffic jams and accidents.
He appealed to all the dairy owners to maintain the hygienic conditions in and around the dairy units by doing proper disposal of cow dung and not let loose their animals on roads and streets.
