Tak demands separate adm div for ‘Chenab valley’

KISHTWAR, July 28: PDP MLC, Firdous Tak has demanded separate administrative division for ‘Chenab valley’.
In a party convention today at Paddar near here, Tak said, like NC and Congress, BJP too discriminated with ‘Chenab valley’.
“Interests of this region have been sacrificed by the elected representatives thereby bringing further poverty and backwardness here,” he said.
He also said that divisional administration operating from Jammu cannot reach out to inaccessible areas of Kishtwar.
“A new structure with sub regions to be new administrative units should be devised for overall development of the State,” he maintained.
“Chenab region is the major contributors to State revenue but in return gets peanuts. The State gets crores as water cess from NHPC besides 2 per cent royalty on the power generation. The timber extracted from this region is sold in the entire region fetching crores to the State exchequer”, he further said.
PDP District President, Sheikh Nasir Hussain, Sajad Ahmed Dev, Thakur Sujan Singh, Girdhari Lal, Haji Mohammad Iqbal, Rajesh Kumar, Goswami Ram, Baldev Singh, Ved Raj, Satish Kumar and others also spoke in the convention.
