SRINAGAR, July 28: Emotional scenes were on Saturday witnessed when 204 trained constables joined the Border Security Force family and took oath to serve the motherland after completing 44-week-long rigorous basic training.
Smartly dressed in BSF uniform, the new recruits participated in a colourful Attestation Parade at BSF Subsidiary Training Centre, Humhama in the city outskirts in the central Kashmir district of Badgam.
Additional Director General (ADG), Special Director General Headquarters (Western Command) Kamal Nayan Choubey took salute of well turned out parade in the presence of Inspector General BSF Training Center S S Chahar.

Immediately after completing the oath and taking part in the parade, recruits were seen congratulating each other. Some of them turned emotional during the celebrations.
A BSF spokesman said that these 204 trainees successfully completed 44 weeks of rigorous basic training in which they were put through various dimensions and aspects of training, involving physical fitness and mental robustness, effective use of arms, map reading and respect for Human Rights to become a true Borderman to carry forward the legacy of elite BSF.
He said the BSF Training Centre, Kashmir was established on June 10, 1990 to impart basic training to recruits and to cater for the training needs of BSF in Kashmir. The Centre has so far trained more than 45,000 BSF personnel, which include Recruits and in service courses. Presently, this premier Training institution is being commanded by Chahar.
Addressing these new Bordermen Choubey, and Chahar congratulated them for the excellent parade and wished them success in their future endeavours. He also lauded the role of Officers and Training Staff of STC in shaping these young men to shoulder the responsibility & rise to the expectations of the nation.
Recruit Constable Ankit Kumar commanded the parade. Chief Guest awarded medals for all round 1st, 2nd best performance, best shooter, best in physical endurance and best in drill.
