Castor seed futures decline on weak spot cues

NEW DELHI, July 30:    Castor seed prices softened by Rs 18 to Rs 4,654 per quintal in futures trade today following liquidation of holdings by speculators, dampened by subdued physical markets sentiment.
Marketmen said speculators were cutting down their exposures tracking lower physical markets, which reflected downtick in castor seed futures prices.
In the spot markets, prices were trailing behind in pressure of abound availability of stocks amid weak demand for consuming industries such as paint, soap and lubricant.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, castor seed delivery for the September contract moved down by Rs 18 or 0.39 per cent to Rs 4,654 per 5 quintal, with an open interest of 69,280 lots.
Meanwhile, the delivery of the most traded first contract August edged down by Rs 9 or 0.19 per cent to Rs 4,633 per quintal, with a business turnover of 80,400 open lots. (PTI)
