JAMMU, May 2: A faction of Employees’ Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has endorsed the strike call given by the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) of the representatives from various employees’ organizations and intensified its campaign to garner workers’ support.
Taking to news-persons here today senior trade unionist and EJAC member, Mohd Gafoor Dar, expressed employees resolve to observe complete strike on May 8 and 9 and conduct ‘Gherao’ of the Civil Secretariat at Srinagar on May 9. He said the EJAC will accord full support to the strike call of the JCC and issued appeal to all the employees of the State including those from PSUs to observe complete pen down strike. He said groups of EJAC members visited many offices and held meetings with the employees seeking their full support for strike. This campaign will continue till May 7, he maintained.
Mr Dar again urged the Government to honour the commitment and agreement made with the JCC leadership as the confrontation was not in favour of any body. He said confrontation is the last resort and the Government must act upon its commitment and avoid to invite such situation as the public is the main sufferer due to agitations/ strikes. He demanded that their pending demands regarding release of 6th Pay Commission arrears, regularization of daily rated/ consolidated workers, removal of pay anomalies, implementation of 6th Pay Commission in all the PSUs, enhancement of retirement age etc be addressed without any delay. Others accompanying Mr Dar included Arun Moza, Rajinder Kumar, Vikrmajit Singh, Muneer Ahmed and Nazir.
Meanwhile, EJAC (Q), in a meeting held at Thathri in Doda today also endorsed the strike call given by JCC on May 8, 9. The members in the meeting pledged to make this strike programme a grand success. Senior EJAC member Dr Anis chaired the meeting. Later, a co-ordination committee of EJAC was also framed.
All J&K Stationery & Office Supplies Department Employees Association in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Babu Hussain Malik, endorsed the strike call given by JCC. The members condemned the State Government for causing delay in addressing employees’ issues. They demanded removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre, regularization of daily wagers, enhancement of retirement age of employees and release of Pay Commission arrears.
