Revenue staff holds protest, submits memo to DC

REASI, Aug 7: The district unit of All J&K Patwar Association (AJKPA) held a protest at district headquarter, here today, demanding withdrawal of an FIR lodged in an alleged false case by an Advocate against SDM Katra.
Hundreds of patwaries and clerical staff of Revenue Department of Reasi district today assembled at district headquarter and raised slogans in support of SDM Katra, Neelam Khajuria, who was implicated in a false case by an Advocate.
Raising slogans against police, the protesting employees said that the SDM was honestly doing his job and removing encroachments from the Reasi town during which the said Advocate misbehaved with her, used abusive language against her and tried to stop her from performing her duties.
They demanded that a strong action be taken against the Advocate and the FIR registered against the SDM be withdrawn immediately. Later, the protesting revenue staff met Deputy Commissioner Reasi and submitted a memorandum of their demands.
The Deputy Commissioner assured revenue staff to look into the matter with top most priority and advised them to suspend their strike following which the protesting employees dispersed but the Association warned of going on indefinite strike if their demands are not met.
Those spoke during the protest were district president, AJKPA, Irfan Shahid Mir, vice president, Altaf Hussain Wani, general secretary, Imtiaz Ahmed, Vakil Singh, district body member, Jagdish Kumar, Pyar Singh, tehsil president, Katra and clerical staff, Sanjeev Abrol Mohasib and Vinod Kumar.
