RBI organises ‘Town Hall Meet’ for Kathua entrepreneurs

KATHUA, Aug 7: Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jammu organised a `Town Hall Meeting’   with the entrepreneurs of Basholi in Kathua district.
The event was presided over by AK Mattu, General Manager, RBI.  AK Pandey, DGM, SBI; Prasant Sardar, DGM, SIDBI, Chandigarh;  Narjary Gupta, Zonal Head, J&K Bank;  Vinay Bhandari, AGM, PNB; and other senior bankers and officials from Govt departments participated and interacted with the entrepreneurs.
Around 165 entrepreneurs/ prospective entrepreneurs, including ladies participated and benefited from the programme.
Mattu welcomed the participants and explained  the  rationale of holding these awareness programmes. He said it was basically to bridge the information asymmetry among the existing and prospective entrepreneurs so that more and more people could come forward and take advantage of various programmes and schemes/ facilities made available to them by Government of India, RBI, banks, and other financial institutions. In view of the limited availability of employment in the Government and other organized sectors, there was a strong need to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth so that more and more among them could come forward and take advantage of the above initiatives of the Government and other financial institutions and could have an alternative source of sustainable livelihood. Not only that, they could also be the employment providers to the other unemployed youth of the region at the local level.
The presence of various senior executives of different banks and Government officials created an opportunity of two way communication between the entrepreneurs and the bankers/ financial institutions to have more clarifications and quick problem solving.
He also explained the untapped potential in MSME sector in employment generation and economic prosperity of the country and exhorted the entrepreneurs to come forward and be partners in economic growth of the country and sought cooperation from all stakeholders in supporting the MSME sector.
Presentations on MSME sector guidelines, challenges and recent developments was given by  Satish Sharma, AGM, RBI.
A brief on schemes such as CGTMSE, Certified Credit Counselors , etc was given by DGM, SIDBI. Presentation on  zero defect zero effect was given by  Manik Gupta , Asstt Director, Quality Council of India, Government of India. A lady entrepreneur Veena Devi, belonging to the area, who was invited by the  Prime Minister of India at his residence in Delhi for her good work was also facilitated on the occasion.
