UDHAMPUR, Aug 8: Continuing its offensive against narcotic smugglers, Udhampur Police recovered 19.5 kg of poppy straw from a narcotic smuggler near Battal Morh, Majalta, here today.
Based on reliable information regarding smuggling of Poppy straw, a police party of PS Majalta led by SHO Urfaan Parvez, under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Jagdev Singh Slathia, laid a naka at Battal Morh, Majalta, Udhampur and intercepted the smuggler namely Sandeep Singh, son of Dewan Singh resident of Ashahoor, Tehsil Phillaur, district Jalandhar.
During the search, 19.500 kg of Poppy straw was recovered from his possession. Police arrested him on the spot and seized the Poppy straw.
In this connection, a case FIR number 67/2018, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Majalta and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
