ED employee detained for blast escapes

JAMMU, Aug 8: An Education Department employee, who was picked up as a suspect along with another youth in connection with blast inside the staff room of Government Higher Secondary School at Shiva in Bhaderwah tehsil of Doda district on August 6, managed to escape from the custody of Bhalla Police Post late last night.
Accused has been identified as Tanvir Ahmad son of Khair Din, a resident of Shiva, who was posted as Class-IV employee previously in the same GHSS Shiva but was reportedly got transferred by the Principal to DIET Doda due to indiscipline.
Police investigations revealed that Tanvir Ahmad had openly threatened the Principal, who was seriously injured in the blast on Monday morning for getting him transferred to Doda. As Tanvir’s family members had suspicious past with one of them linked to militancy and another to sacrilegious act, police detained him yesterday along with Mir Din son of Karam Din of Shiva.
Both of them were lodged at Bhalla Police Post. At around 11.30 pm, Tanveer Ahmad managed to escape from the Police Post.
Sources said since both of them were suspects and had just been called for questioning, they were not lodged in the lock up. Taking advantage, Tanvir Ahmed fled away.
Immediately thereafter, police launched massive searches to nab the suspect but he remained untraced till the reports last came in.
Police have registered a case and initiated inquiry against 3 police officials of Bhalla Police Post for dereliction of duty.
As reported, a blast occurred in GHSS Shiva on Monday morning in the staff room in which College Principal Hoshiar Singh and a non-teaching staff member were injured. Reports said the Principal was target of the blast.
Sources said the escape of Tanvir Ahmad from the Police Post has given rise to the suspicion that he could be behind the blast.
