Before the year 2007-08, there was provision for 40 percent promotional quota for appointment of Lecturers as Assistant Professors in the Degree Colleges from 10 +2 cadre and it was deferred for some reasons. One possible reason could be the least number of eligible candidates available in the School Education Department.
From last many years appreciable number of eligible in-service candidates are available having eligibility and higher qualification i.e. NET/SET/ Ph.D. in the different subjects have been demanding for restoration of said quota as there is long stagnation period for 10 +2 lecturers in the promotional avenues.
Consequently in the year 2017, the State Government constituted a committee for this purpose, and that is likely to submit its report in the near future. Let us hope that this quota will be restored at the earliest and it would be a welcome step in the interest of Government 10 +2 Lecturers and students community as well.
