GCW Udhampur set to get first ‘Pink Toilet’ in J&K

UDHAMPUR, Aug 13: Government College for Woman Udhampur is all set to have first ever pink toilet facility in the campus.
The foundation stone for the new concept washroom specially designed as per the need of women was laid by District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar.
The first of its kind facility would be constructed by Rural Development Department under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which would provide vending machine for sanitation napkins and other facilities for  access for the toilet hygiene.
During an interaction with students, the DDC   let the students know about the idea of pink toilet for girl students. He informed that the pink toilet is one of the rare facilities for girls in India and their college becomes the first public place in the state of Jammu and Kashmir to have this facility.
He said that the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has commissioned “Swachh Sarvekshan Grameen-2018 aimed at to conduct a survey to get the feedback from common citizen and thereby ranking districts and states of the country through an independent survey agency on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation(Swachhata) parameters. He informed the volunteers about the Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 application available in android play store, which can be used for sending feedback in this regard.
College Principal Chander Shekher, Block Development Officer Udhampur, Rupali Vaid, college Staff and students were present on the occasion.
