Project Beacon’s CE reviews road construction work

Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, Brig TPS Rawat, along with other officials, reviewing the construction work on Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road on Wednesday.
BHADERWAH, Dec 26: Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, Brigadier TPS Rawat, today visited the important road construction project of Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah and reviewed the progress of the ongoing work.
Accompanied by Col Arun Y Haltore, Commander, 35 BRTF, Ashwani Kumar, EE, Officer Commanding, 114 RCC and among others, Rawat visited villages of Chinote and Naggar on Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah Road and Amira Nagar area on Pul Doda-Bhaderwah Road, where the construction work of the road has been adversely affected due to encroachments. Rawat discussed in detail the issue of encroachment, which he considered the biggest hurdle facing the BRO with DC Doda, Farooq Ahmad Khan.
The DC apprised the Chief Engineer that the notices have been issued to encroachers by Estate officers of the Road to cooperate BRO in placing men and machinery to remove the encroachments.
Khan interacted with the locals of the said villages and urged them to voluntarily demolish the structures already marked for encroachments. He requested them to cooperate with the administration and BRO to carry out double laning works, which will benefit a large population of the region and give impetus to development and tourism. He warned encroachers of stringent action if they tried to hamper the road work.
Rawat expressed satisfaction over the quality of work executed and appreciated DC for his support in removing the encroachments.
He said that the work on bridges of Pul Doda-Bhaderwah Road is in full swing while the Chakka Bridge will be completed by April 2013. Work on Shivarighat Bridge has been started and abutment will be completed by April 2013 while the Bridge, by March 2014, he added.
