JAMMU, May 3: The employees from various Government departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) held protest dharna in front of  the office of  Divisional Commissioner at Rail Head complex here today.
A large number of employees and workers under the banner of United Forum of Central, State and Public Sector Trade Unions (J&K) assembled near Panama Chowk and then moved towards Divisional Commissioner’s office in the shape of a rally. After reaching at the Rail Head complex, outside the office of Divisional Commissioner, Pardeep Gupta and workers staged protest for some time and then sat on day long dharna.
They were demanding to review the decision of the Government regarding disengagement of nearly 80 odd Home Guards. They demanded that these Home Guards be taken back and the decision regarding their ouster be reviewed. Several prominent Trade Union leaders also attended the programme and then addressed the gathering.
Senior trade union leaders Ram Kumar Sharma, Mohd Gafoor Dar, Ashwani Pardhan, Kulwant Singh, M K Dogra, Arun Gupta, Munir Ahmed and others also addressed the gathering and  issued fresh appeal to the Government and specially the Chief Minister to review his decision. They said the Home Guards who were agitating peacefully and democratically for wage hike since long were thrown out. They described this act as most unfortunate.
Later, a deputation of the senior leaders met the Divisional Commissioner in his office chamber and submitted a memorandum to him for the Chief Minister. They hoped that new Divisional Commissioner will take care of this genuine issue of the Home Guards.
