Bike seized for IED suspicion

JAMMU, Dec 29: Police today seized a motor-cycle lying abandoned at Chowki Chowra on Akhnoor-Sunderbani road in Rajouri district after sniffer dogs of Army hovered around it for quite sometime on the suspicion of explosive object in it.
SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi said a motor cycle No. 9643 was parked near the main road at Chowki Chowra under the jurisdiction of Sunderbani police station when sniffer dogs of a Road Opening Party (ROP) of Army stood around it for few minutes indicating that it might be containing explosive material.
Soon a word spread that the motor-cycle was fitted with an IED. Traffic on the road was stopped.
A Bomb Disposal Squad later confirmed that no explosive material had been tied around the bike.
However, Mr Latifi said, the bike belonging to Pushpinder Kumar of Ghag, Sunderbani has been seized for further investigations.
Traffic was restored on the road after the seizure of motor-cycle.
