ReTs continue chain hunger strike, sit-in protest

JAMMU, Aug 31: Seeking implementation of 7th Pay Commission on SSA/RMSA Teachers and Masters, indefinite chain hunger strike by Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (TJAC) entered into second day on Friday, which was also second last day of the five-day protest dharna by the Jammu Kashmir Rehbar-e-Talim Teachers Forum for the same demand
The indefinite chain hunger strike as well as the protest dharna are being observed near t Press Club Jammu. The protesters are demanding immediate implementation of 7th Pay Commission in favour of SSA /RMSA Teachers and Masters besides de-linking of SSA salary from MHRD and linking it with the State budget.

On second day of the indefinite hunger strike by Teachers Joint Action Committee, which is an amalgam of various Teachers’ organizations, including J and K Teachers Forum, J& K ReT Teachers Forum, Tehreek -e-Rahbar-e-Taleem Forum, J&K SSA Forum etc, fresh batch of volunteers began their fast to continue the chain
The TJAC leaders, who began their strike this morning, included Gulzumbair Ahmed Daing (State vice president JKRETTF), Hari Lal Nag (District president JKRETTF Ramban), Joginder Singh Chib (Zonal president Batote), Farooq Ahmed Lone (Zonal president Ukhral), Ashraf Ahmed Katoch, Sajad Ahmed Zargar, Patimber Singh, Surjeet Singh, Sundhari Lal, Mulkh Raj, Bhim Singh and Rajesh Singh.
Meanwhile, the ongoing five-day sit-in protest by the other faction of JKRETTF Meanwhile, the five-day sit-in protest by the ReT teachers, on the call of Jammu Kashmir Rehbar-e-Talim Teachers Forum, led by its chairman Farooq Ahmad Tantray, entered into fourth consecutive day on Friday. They are also demanding implementation of 7th Pay Commission on SSA/RMSA teachers and de-linking of their salary from the Central source of funding.
