JAMMU, Sept 4: A delegation of Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) met BB Vyas advisor to the Governor of J&K SP Malik at the Convention Centre, Jammu led by DSS president Gulchain Singh Charak today.
The delegation included members from all communities, religions, trades and people from various walks of life. The major points they projected were- Mubarak Mandi complex that represents the soul of Dogras’. This heritage monument of the regions in depilated condition and has been ignored to vanish, despite of many tall talks and assurances.
The delegation brought out that the place highly unsuitable to contain important documents of vintage treasure where 42,000 files have been shifted there. They recalled that in a meeting of the Jammu Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society chaired by the then Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the matter was deliberated upon and it was decided to shift the archives and files to the old information Department buildings. Rs 50 lakh for renovating the buildings was also released. The action is still awaited.
The Dogra Art Museum established in 1991 is today in a pathetic state due to gross neglect and poor upkeep. Rain water seepages have destroyed the glorious uniforms of grand warriors, their weapons rusted and exhibits stained after perpetual weather beatings. These were required to be shifted in the Old State Army Headquarters building; but are yet to see the light of the day. The delegation highlighted the miseries of the vast population in border areas along LoC and the IB is deplorable and they are under perpetual threat of death and destruction of their houses, dwellings and standing crops. Their Schools have to be closed every now and then. The drug mafias sponsored from across LoC/IB are active and with connivance of local influential people, the innocent adolescents are being lured to the menace of drugs and their lives being ruined for narrow personal/political gains.
The delegation took serious note of the defacing of Gen Zorawar Singh’s statue calling it an instigating event as a fresh example of the added impetus by inimical forces to fan trouble and disturb the communal harmony in Jammu region. The miscreants have done this daring evil mischief in a high security zone and in vision of the CC cameras. Unfortunately our police is yet clueless and have not been able to bring the culprits to book. They strongly demanded deportation of Rohingyas and Bangaldeshis from Jammu.
The J&K Ex services League (JKESL) was represented by former MLC, Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal, Col Dr Virendra K Sahi, Col SH Qureshi, Lt Col CL Bhangotra and FR Javed. Col Sahi presented the Welfare Housing Memo containing details of delay in finalizing of Rajinder Vihar.
