JAMMU, Dec 31: Police today arrested a rapist, who had committed the crime on his 13-year old cousin in Patyalachak area, falling under the jurisdiction of Domana Police Station.
Police spokesman said that, on December 12, cousin of the victim girl identified as Mukesh Kumar alias Monu, son of Ram Dayal of Patyalachak lured her to his house on pretext of having “Maggi” and raped her.
The girl narrated the incident to family members, who later filed a complaint against Mukesh Kumar at Domana Police Station, he added.
After registering case under Section 376/ 342 RPC, medical examination of the victim was conducted and investigation started. To apprehend the accused, special team was constituted, which conducted raids at the houses of friends and relatives of the accused, but in vain.
On specific inputs about presence of the accused in Ludhiana, a contact was made with him and was called back to Jammu, spokesman said, adding that as the accused landed at Bus stand, police party from Domana Police Station arrested him.
Police party led by SHO Vijay Singh Choudhary made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Domana Sandeep Mehta.
