SAMBA, Sept 8: Shri Amar Kashtriya Rajput Sabha here today has alleged discrepancies and irregularities in the formation of Wards in Municipal Committee Samba.
In a letter Sabha has brought these discrepancies to the notice of District Election Office (Deputy Commissioner Samba).
Sabha president, Captain, Inder Singh Sambyal (Retired) has stated in the letter that formation of Wards was done in a hasty and haphazardly manner after the announcement of elections to Urban Local Bodies.
He further stated that the exercise was done with no proper demarcation of new areas for inclusion in Municipal limits.
Sambyal further mentioned that none of the concerned officers visited the rural areas to carry out field work for redistribution of the areas of 17 Wards.
“Neither the prominent citizens of the area nor the ex-Sarpanches were consulted in this regard,” he stated adding that no norm of equal area, equal voters and equal population was followed.
“One ward has 540 voters while the other has 1250,” he maintained.
He also said that some hamlets were shifted to Panchayats seven kilometers away and demanded correction in this with all the faults removed.
