KP delegation meets Vyas, submits memo of demands

JAMMU, Sept 14: A delegation of All India Migrant Camps Coordination Committee led by its president Desh Rattan Pandita met B.B Vyas, Advisor to the Governor and submitted him a memorandum containing demands.
These demands included proper drinking water supply in Jagti, transport facility, soft loans for over-aged Kashmiri Pandit (KP) migrant youth, release of ex-gratia for the gutted structures of migrant KPs in Kashmir, minority status to KPs, permanent rehabilitation of KP migrants, compensation for their orchards and agriculture lands in Kashmir, issuance of backward area certificates to the migrant KPs as some of them lived in backward areas in Kashmir and promotion and other service benefits to the migrant KP employees.
The memorandum also included problems of insanitary conditions in Jagti and demand of removal of encroachment from the land and other property of KPs in Kashmir.
The delegation also demanded safeguarding cremation grounds, temples, shrines and other property of Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir valley.
After listening to the delegation Vyas said that he has send a team headed by Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary Farooq Shah to Jagti to look into the matter.
Members of the deputation were P.N Jalali, M.M Kanth, Ramesh Pandita, Kamal Koul, Anil Mehta, Vir Bhat, Priya Bhat, Nishu and Samir Pandita.
