KATRA, Sept 14: A TEQIP-III sponsored two-day international conference on “Mechanical Engineering & Allied Sciences” began today at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra.
The conference is the platform for the intellectuals from various Universities, research institutes, enterprises and experts across the world to gather for exchanging ideas and finding recent developments in Mechanical Engineering. The conference is also promulgated through presentations, basic expeditions, applications and case studies in the broad area of Mechanical Engineering.
On the inaugural day, the conference witnessed various keynote speakers from distinguished institutions across the world. Prof D Mukhopadhyay, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, was the chief guest and he highlighted significant aspects of the conference. The School of Mechanical Engineering took this initiative to provide a platform to international scientists and engineers to share their views and experiences.
Prof Xizhang Chen, Wenzhou University, China and Prof Sergey Konovalov from Samara National Research University, Russia, were the main speakers. Also, Prof R Arvind Singh and Prof S Jayalakshmi from KCT, Coimbatore, and Dr R K Mishra, Head, School of Mech Eng SMVDU, addressed the audience.
Around 200 participants from the reputed institutes including, Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Ropar, IIT BHU, Thapar Institute of Technology Patiala, etc participated, as reported by the conveners, Sanjay M Sharma, Ankush Raina and Mir Irfan Ul Haq.
The proceedings of the function were carried out by Dr Kamini Pathania of School of Physics while Mir Irfan Ul Haq proposed the vote of thanks.
