More support to protesting teachers as indefinite chain hunger strikes continue

JAMMU, Sept 15: As the ongoing chain hunger strike continues at different venues for 7th Pay Commission in favour of SSA teachers and de-linking their salary from the Central source of funding, more organizations of teachers and individuals are coming forward in support of the demands.
The indefinite chain hunger strike under the banner of Teachers’ Joint Action Committee at Press Club Jammu and Srinagar entered into 17th and 13th day, respectively.
The teachers who sat on 24 hour fast at Jammu this morning, included Hari Lal Nag (District president Ramban), Sajad Ahmed Zarger, Khursheed Ahmed, Shiv Kumar, Mohd Rafiq, Balwant Singh, Kamlesh Kumar, Irfan Ahmed, Gashu Ram, Dilwar Singh, Kabal Singh, Des Raj and Balveer Singh.
Meanwhile, the chain hunger strike under the banner of JK RET Teachers Forum, led by Bhupinder Singh at district headquarters in Jammu province, entered into 6th consecutive day on Saturday.
In district Udhampur, Varinder Sharma, Ravi Kumar, Pawan Sharma, Jyoti Parkash, Vikas Sharma, Gopal Singh, Satpaul Guleria, Ravikant Sharma and Inderjeet sat today on hunger strike. MLA Ramnagar R S Pathania also visited the hunger strike venue and assured his support to the demands.
In district Reasi, chain hunger strike was led by District president Bhadur Singh while Aftab Tantray led the hunger strike at Rajouri, Hamid Nabaaz at Poonch, Farooq Runyal at Ramban, Hafeez Bhat at Kistwar and Ishaq Rashid at Doda .
Reports from Samba said that under the banner of J&K Teachers Coordination Committee, a large number of teachers assembled in front of DC Office Samba and staged a protest demonstration in support of the demands for 7th Pay Commission to SSA teachers and de-linking their salary from Central source of funding.
The protest was held under the leadership of Hari Singh, Satish Dutta, Younis Rahi, Maheshwar Prasad and Mrignayani Slathia.
Meanwhile, extending full support to the cause of agitating SSA teachers, JKPCC has asked the Government to immediately accede to their genuine demands keeping in view the interests of students community.
