Police foils attempts of bovine smuggling

UDHAMPUR, Sept 15: Police today foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 12 animals besides arresting the accused smugglers.
Acting on reliable information, a Police party under the supervision of Kulbir Handa, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur and led by Insp. Paramjeet Singh, SHO Rehambal, assisted by SI Sanjeet Sharma IC PP Tikri, laid surprise naka on NHW near Tikri. During checking, police parties intercepted truck bearing registration number JK02AD-3763, which was found loaded with 10 bovine animals.
Police rescued the bovine animals and arrested driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Karpal Singh, son of Jatar Singh of Gundha, Kalakote.
Police also seized the truck and registered a case FIR number 131/18 U/S 188 RPC Act, at Police Station Rehmbal.
In another case, a Police party from PS Udhampur, laid naka at Jakhani and intercepted one Bolero vehicle bearing registration number JK02BA -6506. During the checking of said vehicle, two bovine animals were found loaded in this vehicle which was on its way from Udhampur to Kashmir without permission.
Both the bovine animals were rescued on spot and the accused driver namely Harmeet Ali son of Thuru Ram of Rathan camp, R S Pura Jammu, was arrested on the spot.
In this connection a case FIR number 476/2018 U/S 188 RPC 3PCA Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
