UDHAMPUR, Sept 15: Udhampur Police today seized 3 kg of Poppy straw from a drug peddler who was intercepted at Omara Morh near CRPF camp Udhampur.
Based on a reliable information regarding smuggling of poppy straw, a police party of PS Udhampur under the supervision of Kulbir Handa, Dy SP Hqrs, apprehended accused Showket Ali son of Nazir Ahmed of Dhanore T Morh Udhampur. During his search, 3kg of poppy straw was recovered. Police arrested the accused and seized the recovered poppy straw.
In this connection, a case FIR number 474/2018 u/s 8/15 NDPS act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
Pertinently, the accused was also wanted in case FIR number 40/18 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act dated 19.04.2018 registered in PS Chenani in which 1.9 kg Charas was recovered and three accused namely Gurpreet Singh son of Karnail Singh of Udhampur, Renu Devi wife of Aman Kumar of Samba and Laxmi Devi wife of Jashpal of Udhampur were arrested.
