JAMMU, Jan 11: Expressed deep shock and resentment over the killing of its senior leader and Sarpanch Habbibullah Mir by the unidentified gunmen in his home town at Zanskar, Baramulla, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference today demanded resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Deceased Sarpanch Habibullah Mir was the member of the AJKPC’s 32 member executive body. He had even also attended the Sarpanchs Conference here in Jammu November 27 last year.
Terming it as total failure of the State Government, Shafiq Mir, Chairman of the Panchayat Conference demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister and his Panchayati Raj Minister Ali Mohd Sagar as they could not protect the elected Panchayat members.
“We have been urging the State Government to take precautionary measure but instead of taking immediate steps to provide adequate security to the elected Panchayat members, Chief Minister played political gimmick and announced MLC elections,” he rued.
