SVO presents challan against ICDS Supervisor, 2 Anganwari helpers

JAMMU, Jan 11: Vigilance Organization today presented challan against Chander Kanta, the then Supervisor ICDS Doda, Kiran Devi, the then Anganwari helper Suigwari and Usha Devi, the then Anganwari worker Suigwari for misappropriation of Rs 64,987.
According to the challan, though no Anganwari center was opened or ever existed in village Suigwari, district Doda during the year 2006, Usha Devi, the then Anganwari worker in league with Anganwari helper Kiran Devi hatched a conspiracy, manipulated the records, prepared fake enrollment list of children and fraudulently drew ration which was subsequently misappropriated.
Similarly, the rent of so called Anganwari center and honorarium drawn for so called Anganwari workers/ helpers were also found misappropriated. It was also found that a fake monthly program report showing the distribution of nutrition stock (ration) to non-existent center was prepared by Usha Devi and approved by Chander Kiran, the then Supervisor ICDS Project Doda. Accordingly, an amount of Rs 64, 987 on account of ration, rent/honorarium was fraudulently drawn and misappropriated by the accused persons.
As the acts of omission/ commission of the accused namely Usha Devi, Kiran Devi and Chander Kiran prima-facie established offence punishable under Sections 120-B, 468, 471 409 RPC read with Section 5(1) (c) 5(2) J&K PC Act, 2006, an investigation was launched. After completion of investigation, Vigilance today presented challan in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption, Jammu.
