Educational institutions celebrate Lohri with fervour

JAMMU, Jan 11: Various Educational institutions celebrated Lohri festival and birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with fervour and zeal.
Staff and students of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah along with Principal Prof Kalpana Kesar celebrated Lohri with religious fervour. The function started with the bonfire, followed by speeches and cultural items by the students.
Lohri was celebrated with fervour and zeal at Government Degree College, Udhampur. Principal of the college Dr Nutan K Resutra threw light on the importance of the day. On the occasion, students presented various cultural items and also danced on the beats of drums.
RM College celebrated Lohri and birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Principal PK Dhar threw light on the contribution of Swami Vivekananda in the field of education and also highlighted the importance of the Lohri festival. Students and faculty members recited mantras and bhajans on Lohri festival.
NSS unit of Luthra College of Education celebrated Lohri and birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. A symposium was organized on the topic “Low Morality Accelerates the Avenues of Women Exploitation”, in which Sakshi and Tania secured first and second positions, while Zigmat and Meenakshi shared third position. The consolation prizes were conferred to Govind Sharma, Gobind Singh and Pawan Sharma. On the occasion, students presented cultural items, followed by speech by the Principal and Chairman of the college Rajiv Luthra.
Tawish College of Education, Channi Himmat celebrated Lohri with great pomp and show, in which students and faculty members participated actively. The programme started with Lohri Poojan, followed by speeches by Chairperson Pooja Malhotra, Principal Dr Raj Kumar and other staff members. On the occasion, students presented colourful cultural programme.
Vimal Muni College of Education, Ramgarh celebrated Lohri festival with great fanfare. Chairperson of the College Anu Gupta, Principal Dr SD Gupta, staff and students lit the holy fire. Students sang the religious songs and danced.
RK College of Education and RK Degree College celebrated Lohri festival, in which staff and students of both the institutions participated actively. The programme started with lightning of the holy fire by Chairman of RK Group of Institutions, Ved Prakash, in presence of Secretary RM Sharma, Principals Dr Subash C Gupta and Prof PK Koul and Rajesh Sharma, MD of RK Degree College. On the occasion, students sang songs and also danced.
National Secular Forum and GDC RS Pura celebrated Lohri with fervour and zeal. Principal Anita Sudan, Dr Sunil Gupta, HoD Mathematics, Dr Anil Ganjoo, HoD Physics, Prof JP Singh, Prof Amit Pal besides various other expressed their views on the importance of the day.
Help Age India celebrated Lohri festival with the inmates of Old Age Home and Bal Niketan. Sweets and woolen gloves were distributed among the inmates. Later elders and children danced on the tunes of songs.
