JAMMU, Sept 22: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Jugal Kishore Sharma today called on Advisor to the Governor, B B Vyas and apprised him of various issues concerning Katra town, the base camp of the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
During the meeting, Jugal Kishore Sharma urged the Advisor to take up the much needed developmental works in Katra at an earliest so that the pilgrims of Mata Vaishno Devi ji do not face any difficulty during their visit to the town.
The senior Congress leader sought cable car project from Devi Park, Katra to new track of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji Shrine for ensuring a smooth yatra for the pilgrims as it would provide an added facility to them.
Sharma suggested to the Advisor that execution of the cable car project should be handed over to the Municipal Committee Katra, as it would help in generating income for the local body.
For smooth traffic management in Katra, the Congress leader asked the Advisor to clear the bottlenecks and urged him that the commercial activities at the new bus stand should be restricted to only 20 percent on the approximate 450 kanals of the land acquired for the purpose.
The senior Congress leader also urged the Advisor to ask the concerned department to immediately take up the construction work of the link road from New Bus Stand, Katra to Narayana Super Speciality Hospital Kakrayal, for which the required funds have already been sanctioned while the tendering process has also been completed.
While concluding the meeting, Jugal Kishore requested the Advisor to allow the shopkeepers of Katra to construct four feet long sunshades as against the prescribed two feet length.
Advisor Vyas assured the senior Congress leader that all the issues raised by him would be addressed at an earliest.
